Mombasa Project

Mombasa Project

The Commonwealth War Graves contacted us to design some highly secure storage and welfare facilities for some of there sites in Mombasa, Kenya. Their problem was repeated thefts and they did not believe they could attain the level of security required from traditional build.

Mombasa is virtually on the equator and being next to the sea is generally very hot and humid. The design brief was to create a building that would be cool and airy without the use of air conditioning which could be difficult to get services and prone to theft problems.

The unit is well insulated and as much natural ventilation as possible has been included with an additional electric wall fan provided for the canteen area. The unit has been painted with a 3 Part Epoxy Paint System to withstand the salt air on both its journey from Middlesbrough to Kenya and from the sea air in its new home.

Cleveland Sitesafe also had the responsibility for the safe shipping, delivery from port to site and crane off-loading into place. We were at times a little concerned that it would arrive safely to its destination, but as you can see from the picture all went well.
What Our Customers Say

The addition of the two new buildings has significantly improved the grounds operation area allowing us to fully to comply with our health and safety obligations. As well as meeting the legal side the buildings offer first class garage accommodation to high value kit which would otherwise deteriorate quickly sitting outside.

We have had many Sitesafe products over a number of years. We find Sitesafe helpful with the initial design through to installation and their products have proved to be robust.

Cleveland Sitesafe have provided Fairburn Ings Nature Reserve with three anti-vandal steel hides built to our specification, they have proved to be very successful and stood up to attempted vandalism with little damage, they are also cheaper than similar sized wooden structures and a lot easier to keep clean and maintain.
